After its release in the United States on May 18, the ChatGPT mobile app swiftly gained traction, surpassing half a million downloads within the first six days. Its exceptional performance outshone other AI and chatbot applications, as well as Microsoft Edge and Bing apps, in terms of download numbers. In just a week, its availability expanded to include an additional 32 nations, such as Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Continuing its momentum, the app further penetrated 11 nations last week, including New Zealand, Nigeria, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and several European countries like France, Germany, and Ireland.
Meanwhile, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has been actively visiting multiple countries to strengthen relationships with world leaders and gain insights into their concerns regarding AI. As the ChatGPT app gains popularity, Altman engaged in discussions with several heads of state in Europe during the current week. Additionally, he plans to embark on a visit to India in the early part of the following month.
